Our team
The Enabling Services branch deliver core corporate functions across Geoscience Australia, which include communications, cyber security, finance and facilities, governance and human resources (HR). Our success is driven by a professional and trusted partnership that connects our expertise with our stakeholders.
Our team of HR professionals provide services designed to support our people, across functions such as recruitment and development, safety and wellbeing, workplace relations, culture and engagement and workforce data and planning.

The key duties of the position include
In this role you will:

  • Manage the pay and conditions function for Geoscience Australia employees
  • Manage relationships through our Shared Services agreement with the Department of Industry, Science and Resources
  • Manage complex pay enquiries, including outcomes of pay audits and reviews, outline the primary tasks, deliverables and requirements of the role in bullet points, include frequency or duration of work, effort and skill required, complexity of tasks and any specialised equipment required/used.
  • Implement business process improvements, and work instructions
  • Ensuring reports such as the fortnightly pay variance are accurate
  • Manage the agency Individual Flexible Agreement process, including providing advice to business area and undertaking annual reviews
  • Supporting policy and procedure reviews, including facilitating staff consultation
  • Preparing and reviewing internal communications related to Payroll matters, and other communications to support the broader Workplace Relations team
  • Support the Manager, Workplace Relations with employment matters relating to Geoscience Australia's Enterprise Agreement
  • Lead, support and mentor the APS4 HR Advisor

Required skills, knowledge, experience and/or qualifications
  • Relevant HR qualifications and/or experience in HR industrial relations, payroll and customer service are desirable, but not essential.
